So the Japanese want to learn English (finally) and started buying English-language textbooks. The bestseller is "The Speeches of Barack Obama", sold in over 400,000 copies in the past two months. This just happens to be a record in Japan, where, apparently, very few books get sold in more than 1,000,000 copies per year, so... yeah, they don't read that much... And also, they are Obama fans! Say what you want, but this sounds like a pretty stupid thing to buy. I mean, that guy is obviously a smart individual with good knowledge of English grammar and literature, thus making his speeches ... well... boring. On the other hand, "The speeches of George W Bush", now THAT would be a book worth buying.
